Theme Parks Host Fireworks For New Years Eve

The theme parks have been busy, busy, busy this holiday season.  Disney has been filled to capacity this week.  Once you’re in don’t leave or you may not get back in.  Ok, who’s having fireworks????

Just watching the evening news and heard that Cypress Garden’s will be closing.  Very sad.  No closing date was given.

There is fun for the whole family here.  From the Farris Wheel to Go-Kart Racing to Thrill Rides you pick the level of excitement.  For the little ones, there is nothing better than the Kids Spot. 

Not in the mood for rides?  Enjoy their indoor arcade.  Also a great place for a birthday party.

Now located at two locations.  The original Fun Spot is off of International Drive and the other is in Kissimmee.  They have a 14 passenger van that will pick you up from your hotel.

Dr Phillips Community Park – Totally Fun!!

The Dr Phillips Community park is located in Southwest Orlando, about 10 dr phillips water parkminutes from Downtown Disney.  It is an Orange County park, therefore free admission.  The park is enjoyed by people of all ages.  It has the best climbing thing (like a metal jungle gym) for the older children and much more.  The park sits alongside Big Sand Lake and some people like to sit, relax and watch the birds on the lake. There is also a lighted baseball field, 2 lighted soccer fields, 2 sand volleyball courts, basketball court, an amphitheater, playground, dog park, picnic areas, playground, and walking trails along the lake.  The feature most liked is the Splash Park (admission is $1 per person).  Made for the children, but watch those grown ups run around splashing and having fun.

Fort Christmas Historical Park – Free

Seven restored historical homes preserve the ‘Cracker’ architecture of East Orange County. The houses are interpreted to show pioneer life from the 1870s through the 1930s. Key themes are homesteading, cattle, citrus, hunting, fishing and trapping.  Special events throughout the year.

Best of all the admission is FREE

Park Hours:  Summer – 8:00am-8:00pm, Winter – 8:00am-6pm

Fort and Homes are open: Tuesday – Sunday 9:00am-4:00pm

Leu Gardens Free Admission

 

Harry P. Leu Gardens features three miles of paved scenic walkways that take you through fifty acres of southern styled gardens including:

  • America’s largest Camellia collection outside California

  • Three acres of idea gardens for weekend projects
